We are a welcoming congregation

Welcome to the home of the Sierra Foothills Unitarian Universalists

The Sierra Foothills Unitarian Univeralists welcome you. Regardless of the path that brought you here, regardless of where your path may lead, we invite you to walk with us today.

With its roots in the Judeo-Christian traditions, Unitarian Universalism keeps an open mind to the religious questions people struggle with in all times and places. We believe that personal experience, conscience and reason guide us, and that ultimately religious authority lies within ourselves. We do not ask anyone to subscribe to a creed.
From the affirmation of the unity of God (Unitarian) to the universal salvation of all souls (Universalist), UU’s affirm and promote:
  • Justice, equity, and compassion in human relations

  • Acceptance of one another and encouragement to spiritual growth

  • A free and responsible search for truth and meaning

  • The right of conscience and the use of the democratic process within our congregations and society at large

  • The goal of world community with peace, liberty, and justice for all

  • Respect for the interdependent web of all existence of which we are a part.

Rainbow Flag to be Proudly Displayed at SFUU
Dedication Ceremony at Sunday Service on June 29
The Welcoming Committee and the Social Action Committee
would like to give a special thanks to our Board of Trustees for
acting so quickly to approve the hanging of the Rainbow Flag,
along with a UU Flag and an Earth Flag, beside our entry door.
The exact date that the flag will be purchased and hung is to be
determined, but we are hoping to have the flag in time for the
Flag Dedication Ceremony to be performed on Social Justice
Sunday, June 29th. This flag truly states that all are welcome here and supports the
Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender (GLBT) people and
their families and allies, both inside and outside our congregation,
in the greater Auburn area. SFUU is a Welcoming Congregation.

 UUs AND 'OPEN MINDEDNESS'
Being 'open minded' is often considered a
great virtue of the UU tradition. Jason File
will be reflecting on what it means to be
'open minded'. Should one be open minded
about social injustice? What about open
mindedness towards a rival political party?
What about religious fundamentalism?
Where do we draw the line, and why?
